The Betacam allowed for more pro grade video recording. Now there did not need to be two units, the recording could be done in the camera and the conveyable Camcorder was born.

Even with the correction of the camcorders, the price of them certainly dropped. The traditional heavy units were priced colse to 00 and now a palm sized unit costs about 0.
